Jackie’s Story

Jacquelyn Terwilliger, known as Momma Jackie or Jack Jack, was raised as an only child by her mother and her grandparents in Easton, Pennsylvania. She loved to play with her doll collection, draw, dance, and help her mother with sewing and button collecting.

Jackie met the love of her life, G. David Hunter (1934 – 1996), in college and married him in Richmond, Virginia, on June 1, 1957. They moved to Durham, North Carolina, for a few years and then to Nashville to raise their three children.

Jackie was an active member of Western American Branch of the Society for Italic Handwriting (WABSIH). For many years, Jackie earned a reputation in Nashville for her exquisite handwritten calligraphy and artistic flair. Her elegant penmanship graced envelopes sent to U.S. presidents, local and state officials, royalty, celebrities, and many others. She spent countless nights at an antique desk, dipping her pen into ink, writing  stunning calligraphy on envelopes that matched the beauty of the invitations, announcements, and greeting cards within. Somewhere along the way, Jackie became a recipient of The Black Chrysanthemum Certificate, a recognition of spilled ink or mess on a piece of artwork.
