Envelope Art

Join the fun as Carol DuBosch presents the many possibilities for using art and calligraphy to make unique envelopes for everyday mail! Everyone loves to see their name “in lights”, and creatively addressing envelopes to friends and family is a great way to let them shine and know they are special.

Carol will share simple techniques to make mail a piece of art and share her large collection of decorated envelopes.

Carol regularly enters and wins awards i the annual Graceful Envelope Contest, sponsored by the National Associated of Letter Carriers and the Washington D.C. Calligraphers Guild. Carol will present slides of past entries, with sketches and drafts to show the design development.

Top Ten Reasons for Lettering Envelopes:

  1. There is no need to decide what to write (names and addresses are given).
  2. Nobody will be offended by choice of words.
  3. Choosing the right paper isn’t a problem – commercial envelopes are just fine.
  4. Only knowing one letter style is not a problem.
  5. It provides a practical place to try out new “hands”.
  6. Results can quickly get out of view – pop them in the mail.
